yahoo isn’t the same as it used to be, recently I discovered many bad things about it that are disapointing;
- domain names registred with yahoo are unmanagable or hard to manage.
- when searching for mails inside my mail account, It shows that nothing is found!!
I fixed the first problem, by changing my domain registrar to a small local hosting company.
The second problem is still there, trying to find out a solution to migrate my mail box out from yahoo to google..
well if yahoo is still giving disappointing services, I think it’ll destroy it’s image of the brilliant company at the 90′s golden age.

I access internet on client’s machine by right clicking on the browser and selecting “Run as” and inputing the administrator user name and password.

however today i had the toughest time of my life when was trying to access the internet on the sales manager’s pc. my trick wouldn’t work and that made me the worst IT ever.

I then tried logging on as the administrator on the PC and still i could access the internet. The IP is within the IP range of the company. I changed the IP address(used one from a working pc) and still I was left without internet access. The PC works fine on the company domain… you can access mails from the exchange server without problem.

Now the question: What the hell is wrong with the settings on the PC? The problem is on two machines…

Now… The anniversary date has passed. I sent 3 invoices to the email address of the guy that started this agreement. I sent a 30 day notice, a 7 day notice and a 1 day notice. There was no reply to any of them.

I waited 10 days after the account was due to be renewed because that is what I say I will do in my Terms Of Service. And on this 10th day I filed a DMCA (copyright infringement) with the company that is hosting his site.

I did this because, again, I do not do templates. And in my TOS it says:

I do not sell templates, I sell a service. If someone thinks they bought my designs, I’m sorry, but they didn’t, and I have gone out of my way to make this clear.

Anyway, today I get a call from someone else that works at the place I did the site for, actually the owner. He tells me that the person I was working with is no longer with his company, and the whole time he thought what they purchased was a template.

I explained to him what I just explained here and I told him that I would sell him the design outright and royalty free for $99. He talked me down to $75. Which is cool.

I just don’t like my work out there, and people hacking it up and making it look bad which makes me look bad, which is one reason why I hold the rights to my work. The other reason is, since I don’t do templates and every site is designed from scratch there is much more work involved, and if someone is done with their site, moves on to another company or whatever, then I am free to take that design with me and sell it to someone else who may have similar needs.

I have been doing webs now for over 10 years, and this is honestly the very first time I have been in this situation.

I kinda feel like a jerk, and although I had no intention of misleading anyone it appears that there was some confusion. But all in all I think the offer of buying my design for only $75 is a sweet offer to resolve the situation.

Am I being a jerk? And if I am, do you think it’s justified?

Let me know, I really want as many opinions as possible.

When the domain was acquired for $1.95 during 2007/2008 the condition was that the renewal rate would be $12.95 ( NOT $34.95 !). In fact the current Yahoo webpages still advertise new domains at $1.95 with renewals at $12.95 .

Please put my mind at ease and confirm July 01 domain price
increase do not apply to the $1.95/$12.95 domain acquisitions and that Yahoo shall honour the perceived grandfather clause.

A further question: If the whopping renewal increase still stands what are the implications should I wish to transfer the domain prior to July 01 2008.

Bluehost I’ve never heard of but keeps emerging as one of the best.

I’m currently using godaddy which I REALLY DISLIKE. It’s tortuous. Everytime you buy a domain, you’re blasted with screens of more options to buy crap. I dislike godaddy hosting.

I have about 8 domains and a hosting package currently on godaddy so if I switched I’d need to be able to transfer those.

I REALLY like yahoo’s search engine and answers! area, etc. But I am not sure about there webhosting.

Customer for years… raised my rate without warning. Restricted number of emails I could send. Requested an increase and got the run around. Was told to write to someone in particular and they never wrote back or responded to any calls. POOR customer service so switched. Must be nice to be making enough $$ to not care about service anymore.
