Is there a domain registrar that doesn’t have email or web hosting?

Posted under Programming & Design by admin on Tuesday 16 February 2010 at 6:22 am
Bella asked:

While searching for a cheap domain registrar, I noticed that they all come with at least one email address (yourname@yourdomain.com) and web hosting (which I’ve already found). Are there any domain registrars that are cheap and are ONLY for domain hosting (no email and web hosting attached)? Or are there any domain registrars that offer those services as optional extras?

How can I transfer a domain name from one registrar to another?

Posted under Programming & Design by admin on Monday 8 February 2010 at 6:53 pm
Jack asked:

I registered a domain name a few months ago with a little known company. The problem is the company’s service is a piece of crap – half the time their name servers are down. So I want to transfer that domain name to godaddy. So how do I go about it? Do I need to notify the old registrar and get their permission or can I just pay godaddy for the transfer and have it take place?

Selling Domain Names — What do I do if someone buys my domain name?

Posted under Programming & Design by admin on Sunday 24 January 2010 at 3:50 pm
TumbleTim asked:

I was thinking about buying a domain name for investment. I’ve read about the risks, etc– and I know they’re sometimes hard to re-sell. But I found a couple of “good ones” and I think I’d like to pay a little money to buy them and hold on to them for a year (or three or five).

But my question is this– let’s say I buy a domain name through GoDaddy and hold on to it for three years. And finally someone wants to buy the domain at a price I am comfortable with….. what do I have to do? In other words, how do I transfer the domain from ME to THEM?

Also, if you have bought and re-sold domain names before, I’d be interested to hear about your experiences.

Thanks for reading… any and all answers are appreciated.

Do you think people will remember.tv instead of.com ?

Thallasa35 asked:

Hi, I was thinking of developing a .tv domain . But many people keep saying that its always better to get a .com. The .com is taken , but the .tv extension fits this name perfectly. Do you think its worth developing it and will people remeber its .tv not .com? Also, what hosting do you recommend for .tv ? Thanks !!

Is rDNS good or bad?

Posted under Programming & Design by admin on Friday 17 July 2009 at 4:22 pm
Thread7 asked:

I have a dedicated server and when I do “nslookup mydomain” it doesn’t spit back my domain name. I could easily have the hosting company set this up. However, I’m not sure if it is beneficial at all.
Pros -> Maybe search engines find you more legitimate.
Cons -> Maybe it helps hackers find you.
Reverse DNS was what I meant. I already have DNS for the server and domain. SSL is probably enough incentive to set it up.

Where Can I find a place to buy a website with my own domain name and a sitebuilder?

Posted under Programming & Design by admin on Tuesday 14 July 2009 at 11:49 pm
bunny u asked:

I do not know how to use HTML, so I need one with a good sitebuilder program. I only want to pay a yearly fee, not monthly. I am also not planning to pay a fortune because it’s not going to be a business site, but just for me. I guess my price range is $50 or less for a year, is there such a thing? Because I see other sites go for about $10/ month.

All I need is 10 domain names, and not more than 10GB of web space.

Thanks!

I do value price, but reliability is my main concern.

having problems transferring my domain from yahoo to godaddy after i canceled it with yahoo?

Posted under Programming & Design by admin on Sunday 12 July 2009 at 10:35 pm
Sam asked:

my domain name was registered with yahoo
now i transferred it to godaddy and canceled the registration with yahoo !!

Godaddy says :
Accept/Decline
The transfer is waiting for the customer to accept it at the losing registrar company (yahoo).

the problem that i already cancel my domain registration at yahoo .

1) now i can’t enter my domain Control panel to accept or decline anything

2) there is no email sent to my email address to accept domain transfer or something like that .

3) and when i try to contact the yahoo support team they say :
Sorry!
We offer phone and email support only to Small Business customers, and our records don’t show any Small Business products associated with your Yahoo! ID.

( thats because i already canceled the domain registration )

well
this is really bad , i couldn’t find the solution of my problem at yahoo FAQ , and they didn’t accept to contact me because i am not their customer anymore !!!

this is a f***in nightmare .

Working with YAHOO is like walking in the dark
wtf . i am so pissed off yahoo supporting team ,

what can i do now , wish i never registered anything with yahoo

I need a name for my home based business?

Posted under Programming & Design by admin on Saturday 11 July 2009 at 9:59 am
Nick J asked:

I’ve started my own web design/programming and consulting company. I need a name bad. I’d prefer something short, that would also make a good domain name. something “… Productions” is what I was thinking but I’m open to all suggestions. I do HTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, ASP (classic), network design, and network security consultation.

I’ll even send $5 to the person who sends in the idea that I end up using, so make them good! Thanks to all who respond.
I like the NickWhatever.com idea, but nickjones.com nickjones.net and even nickjones.org are all taken already.
